Alan Duggan

Alan Duggan

Committee Member

I got into Triathlon back in 2012. I had been doing a little cycling & running. Nearly drowned my first evening at the Tuam Masters but did the Loughrea Sprint that year. I‘m so delighted I found the Tri Lakes crew - you couldn’t find a nicer, sounder bunch of people. Always so welcoming and always looking out for each other. I did catch the Ironman bug, did my first in 2014 in Tenby, Wales because it was ‘logistically’ the easiest according to John Mongan!! Did my 4th in Copenhagen last year and taking a break this year so we’ll see what 2019 brings.

Where it started for me was a spinning class in Andrews gym. I heard talk of triathlons. It was something I never thought I would be able to complete. But a few years later in 2016 I joined trilakes. And I have completed in sprint Olympic and half distance triathlons with the help and encouragement of the Trilakes family.

Elimar did her my first ‘Try-aTri’ in Athy in 2009 all by herself!
She got the bug and it all went from there!! And her house has never been clean since!!! But my bike is!!

Elimar has also been capped for Ireland in Rugby, so don’t tackle her!

Therese Murray

Therese Murray

Committee Member and Gear Coordinator

After having watched her husband Paddy doing triathlons she decided to do one for her 40th nearly 4 years ago she couldn’t swim at all so thanks to plenty of lessons and Tuam Masters she finally did it.

"I’ve done a few triathlons since then. I love the social side of Trilakes, love the group cycles and have made wonderful friends through out the years. I think it’s a fantastic way to meet people and caters for all ages & abilities. Long may it last".

Anne-Marie Reidy

Anne-Marie Reidy

Secretary

I did my first triathlon in 2004 with my brother. We had big heavy mountain bikes! I did 4 triathlons that summer and then took a 10 year break until I joined Tri Lakes in 2014. I’ve come on a little bit since then! I’m doing my first (and only) Ironman in Barcelona in October with the same brother, Rory! He made me do it, I swear! I am enjoying my role as secretary in the club. There are the most wonderful people in this great little club.

Celia Davin

Celia Davin

Joining in 2009 Celia is a highly accomplished swimmer having completed the 13km Bay swim and being a Club swimmer with Tuam Swimming Club and then Tuam Masters Swimming Club.

She is a swim coach with The Tuam Masters and has completed multiple Olympic and sprint triathlons finishing on the podium in a few! She was also bitten by the Iron man bug and has completed two!

John Mongan

John Mongan

Male Captain

I got into triathlon because marathon running wasn’t tough enough Did first triathlon I think down in Letrim about 12 years ago with Eugene Hoade..I thought I was going to die during the swim as about 500 swimmers were coming very very fast behind me..thought I was going to drown, anyways I was hooked after that..myself and the lads were cycling/running nearly every week so it kinda made sense to add swimming into the mix as well..We started our own club a few years later and I’m delighted to see that this club has grown so much since..We have fantastic people involved,we always had!! Never ever has there been any issues with the club and that is a credit to all involved ..

Paddy Murray

Paddy Murray

Treasurer

Joined Trilakes in 2013. Can’t rightly remember how or why. Rugby and martial arts background originally with a sprinkle of other sports thrown in for good measure.
Love the social aspect of Trilakes and great to get know people considering that I am a blow in. I will always remember how friendly and welcoming the club was when I first joined.
Great club and great people. My motto for the club is based on hearing it plenty of times been said to members “you’ll be well able for it”.
Makes me smile every time.

Fiona Carton

Fiona Carton

Fiona is our social officer. This is very apt as she lives to socialize! She says triathlons are her ‘pretend’ hobby but really she loves them.
Fiona joined Tri Lakes in 2011 and did her first Ironman in Barcelona in 2015.
